ALAN GITTELSOHN Prior to joining the Johns Hopkins Department of Biostatistics, Dr.
Gittelsohn received his Master of Public Health and PhD degrees from the
University of California, Berkeley. His research activities ranged over a very
broad field of biostatistics, public health, and medicine, contributing perhaps
most significantly to biostatistical applications in health care research. Dr.
Gittelsohn also held a joint appointment in the Department of Health Policy and
Management at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health.
He retired to his native California in 1992 and passed away in 2012 at the age of 84.
