Welcome to my ballroom page! I founded the Hopkins CSSA ballroom team in 2011 November. It is now an official ballroom organization under Hopkins Chinese Scholar and Students Association (CSSA). Our team is open to anyone who is interested in ballroom dance. In our class, we will be learning all ten ballroom dances, but we will focus most on Rumba, Chachacha and Samba. Our class now is taught by Maria Ilina and myself. Join our google-group here!
Ballroom dance has two big categories: Standard and Latin. Each of them has further five dances. In Standard, there are Waltz, Vienneze Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot and Quickstep. In Latin, there are Rumba, Chachacha, Samba, Jive and Paso Doble. For beginners, Rumba and Waltz are easier to start with among all ten dances. Dances such as Samba or Foxtrot are more advanced and technique demanding.
